Company Overview:

We are recruiting for an IT Support Engineer on behalf of our long-established client who offers bespoke IT solutions to businesses across the UK. Their reliable team have extensive knowledge of hardware, software and maintaining IT infrastructure, from legacy systems to the latest technologies.

To be considered for this position candidates should meet the required criteria and be based within reasonable commutable distance of Cullen, NE Scotland, as some working from the office will be required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for our IT Support Engineer:

  • Provide technical support; answering support queries either on-site or via phone or email
  • To maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles
  • To assist with customer implementations either remotely or on-site
  • To take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues
  • Respond to enquiries from clients and help them resolve any hardware or software problems
  • Support users in the use of computer equipment by providing the necessary training and advice
  • To escalate more complex service issues to the relevant member of the team

Essential Skills and Experience Required for our IT Support Engineer:

  • Basic understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration
  • Knowledge of networking, backup software and accounts software would be advantageous
  • Excellent telephone manner and face-to-face communication skills
  • Experience in diagnosing hardware and software faults
  • Excellent inter-personal skills: diplomatic with the ability to inspire user confidence
  • A thorough, professional approach

The Following Would Also be Advantageous:

  • Experience of working for a small/medium sized business
  • Broad range of IT support experience
  • Confidence to explore the customer’s situation with them to develop a fuller understanding of the underlying need
  • Ability to provide what is agreed with the customer
  • Proactive - taking action to exceed customer expectations
  • An advocate for customer satisfaction as a key value for themselves and the IT Team
  • Able to deal effectively with dissatisfied customers
  • Deliver effective and efficient use of time and resources

Schedule: Ideally 3 days per week with some flexibility towards working hours as these may change subject to requirements, pro-rata salary for part-time hours
