Junior Data Engineer

Following the acquisition of Brookson by People2.0, the responsibilities of the Data and Analytics team have significantly expanded. As a result, we are seeking a skilled Junior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team.

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting and implementing our data strategy. Under the guidance of the Senior Data Engineer, you will assist in designing, building, and maintaining our data architecture, which encompasses both on-premises and cloud-based solutions. This is a hands-on technical role that offers valuable opportunities for learning, mentorship, and professional development. Your contributions will play a direct part in creating adaptable data assets and driving the success of our analytics initiatives.

Our office in Warrington (WA1) is conveniently accessible by car and is just a 10-minute walk from the nearest train station. We offer a hybrid working arrangement, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office, with the flexibility to work from home for the remainder of the week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines, ensuring reliable data flow from source systems to the consumption layer.
  • Develop modern data pipelines using medallion architecture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data architecture with business objectives.
  • Implement and maintain data quality checks to ensure accuracy and integrity of data assets.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data processes, leveraging the latest technologies and methodologies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders on data-related issues.

Technical Environment

  • Cloud Platform: Azure (Data Factory, Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, etc.)
  • BI Tools: PowerBI, Alteryx
  • Programming/Query Languages: SQL (required), Python (desirable)
  • Data Modeling: Medallion architecture, dimensional modeling
  • Development Practices: Agile methodologies, DevOps practices

What Experience are we looking for?

Essential skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience developing and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Basic understanding or experience with reporting pipelines/infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities; comfortable working in a team environment.

Essential skills

  • Experience with PowerBI or other BI tools.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, incremental and batch ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services, particularly in data management and analytics.
  • Familiarity with Alteryx for data processing and analytics.

In Return for joining us as a Junior Data Engineer:
