Software Asset Management Analyst

We are undertaking an exciting transformation programme which will set the foundation for our success, and an opportunity exists to join the IT Solutions - Service Excellence function as a Software Asset Management Analyst. About the roleThis role will be responsible for inventory management of IT software assets throughout the IT Asset Management (ITAM) lifecycle within the company. The role will follow the Software Asset Management (SAM) policy, process and procedures and will implement associated ways of working, as well as mitigating the risk of failed software vendor audits and reducing unnecessary software costs across the global organisation. Your accountabilities- Support the globalisation of Group IT SAM policies, processes, and procedures for management of in-scope assets across the Group, including applicable standards and change control processes.- Ensure assets are inventoried and recorded accurately in the Group's SAM repository and tailor the reports to the needs of the business.- Manage requests and inquiries related to software usage, deployment and license availability and identify opportunities for re-harvesting and optimisation. Maximise savings opportunities through best allocation, usage and deployment of software assets across the SAM lifecycle, from request & procurement through to retirement of assets.- Work collaboratively with other Global IS teams with technology asset data and insights and contribute to the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of reports to enable the business to review the financial spending and communicate compliance of assets.- Contribute to identifying opportunities to reduce the application footprint, based on statistical analysis such as Return on Investment (ROI), Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and vendor performance criteria.- Embed new ways of working through active participation in governance, for example the Application Board and associated processes.- Assist with the organisation's response to software vendor audits or license validation requests, in consultation with key stakeholders.ENABLING OUR DIGITAL FUTURE- Identify and monitor legislation trends that affect ITAM in each geographical region, including environmental laws, and mitigate associated risk exposure.- Complete tasks on handover and implementation of new Service Excellence SAM ways of working from Global IS Transformation into day-to-day operations.Role organisation and scopeThe role holder will work as part of a team of SAM analysts as part of the Service Excellence SAM function, reporting to the IT Asset Manager - SAM. The role holder is one of the team responsible for coordinating SAM across all geographies, including third-party locations and cloud-based assets. This includes both physical and virtual assets and software licences. The ITAM team will be geographically dispersed across the business which is likely to span multiple time-zones which will demand some reasonable flexibility of working hours.Infrequent travel might be required to other locations spanning multiple overnight stays, with occasional long-haul travel. This is a role within a global number one in their field.
