D365 Business Central Technical Lead Consultant Seeking a D365 Business Central Technical Lead Consultant to play a pivotal role in the ongoing development, optimisation, and governance of their global Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central platform, along with other finance systems such as Medius, Concur, and Workday Adaptive. Already implemented across multiple regions, Business Central forms the backbone of the financial operations — and this role ensures they continue to evolve it effectively in line with business needs, industry standards, and best practice. You'll be embedded within the internal Digital Delivery function as part of the Business Systems Centre of Excellence, working across finance, IT, and project delivery. This role combines hands-on D365 BC configuration and development with business process analysis and user engagement, ensuring that their financial systems evolve in line with operational needs, enterprise strategy, and regional compliance requirements.
What you will do - Act as the subject matter expert for D365 Business Central, delivering configuration, workflow automation, and enhancement of modules including GL, AP, AR, and reporting.
- Collaborate with finance teams to translate business needs into technical solutions that streamline processes and ensure compliance.
- Plan and manage system upgrades, testing cycles, and change delivery with minimal disruption.
- Deliver training, documentation, and ongoing support to internal users and superusers.
- Work with integration specialists to ensure robust, well-documented integration between BC and enterprise platforms (e.g. Salesforce, Medius, HR systems).
- Contribute to data architecture and master data management principles to ensure quality and ownership across entities.
- Support planning and reconciliation of financial data flows between systems
- Shape and deliver system improvements in line with the Business Systems roadmap and wider digital transformation initiatives.
- Support business system change cycles, and the onboarding of new entities or finance structures
- Provide hands-on support in project cycles, from requirements gathering through to build, deployment, and post-live support.
- Collaborate with developers and product owners to test and deploy enhancements effectively
Essential Skills & Experience - Deep hands-on experience with D365 Business Central, particularly in the finance module configuration and support.
- Strong working knowledge of core finance processes and internal controls.
- Proven ability to translate operational finance needs into scalable, systemised solutions.
- Comfortable working independently across business and technical stakeholders.
- Practical experience with system upgrades, user support, and process change.
Desirable Skills - Relevant Microsoft certifications
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform and Middleware tools (such as Mulesoft, Boomi).
- Experience supporting financial process automation, SaaS revenue recognition, or subscription billing models.
- Exposure to agile delivery methods and enterprise roadmap planning.
This is a permanent salaried role on offer at £60,000-£80,000 basic plus benefits package and offered on a Hybrid working pattern, 2 days in the Chester offices and 3 days working remotely
