You'll oversee the migration to upgraded financial platforms, working at the cutting edge of financial technology in the public sector.This role sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and strategic leadership. You'll manage a specialist team of six professionals, influence corporate-level decisions on system investments, and ensure that the organisation's financial infrastructure supports its ambitious transformation agenda. Your work will directly impact how effectively £1.3 billion+ of public money is managed and accounted for.What Makes This Role Special
  • Leading the financial systems strategy and multi-million pound technology investments

  • Direct involvement in supporting the Section 151 Officer and providing strategic oversight of the annual accounts process
What We're Looking For You'll be a fully-qualified accountant (ACA or CIMA or ACCA or CIPFA) or possess equivalent professional experience in systems development. Your track record will demonstrate success in developing and maintaining financial systems in large, complex organisations, with particular expertise in change management and major systems implementations.We need someone who can operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels, possessing sound analytical skills and the ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions. You'll understand the political environment of local government and have experience managing sensitive, high-profile initiatives.
