Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, manage, and support core enterprise platform infrastructure, encompassing servers, networks, storage, and vital virtualisation environments. Performance Monitoring: Maintain platform availability and performance, proactively responding to alerts and service degradations to consistently meet business requirements and SLAs. Incident Resolution: Troubleshoot complex system issues, conducting detailed root cause analysis to resolve incidents efficiently and prevent recurrence. Automation and Optimisation: Streamline infrastructure provisioning, patching, and deployment processes utilising modern scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools to eliminate manual effort. Security and Compliance: Administer system updates and patch management in strict alignment with internal security policies and 'Secure by Design' principles. Collaboration and Documentation: Work cross-functionally to support endpoint management and virtualised ecosystems while developing high-quality technical documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams. Service Continuity: Contribute to capacity planning and participate in an optional bounty-based out-of-hours pager system to minimise service downtime. Required Skills and Experience Essential:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure support, or a closely related enterprise-level role. Virtualisation & Infrastructure: Proven experience with virtualisation platforms (such as Nutanix, VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V) alongside familiarity with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI). Networking: Solid understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, and switching. Operations: Strong background in IT monitoring tools, incident management, performance tuning, and endpoint ecosystem management. Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, clear communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders, and a proactive, adaptable mindset. Desirable:
Proficiency in automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform. Deep technical expertise in managing Active Directory, MECM, and enterprise wireless networking. Working knowledge of on-premise Microsoft Technologies (Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server) or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle).
