Location : Remote first, must be in the UK, office available in Birmingham
Contract: Full time, permanent contract, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: up to £50,000 depending on experience

Role Overview
We’re hiring a DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our server infrastructure and collaborate closely with developers to support, scale, and secure our high-traffic e-commerce platforms.
You’ll be responsible for the stability, performance, and deployment of key infrastructure using a modern toolset. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone excited by automation, infrastructure-as-code, and building reliable systems with real impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimise Linux-based infrastructure supporting a large-scale e-commerce platform
- Build and maintain deployment pipelines and infrastructure as code using Ansible
- Monitor performance and system health using Prometheus and Grafana
- Strengthen security, backups, and compliance
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortems
- Collaborate with development teams on CI/CD workflows and scalable architecture
- Document internal systems and assist with onboarding and training
- Participate in a shared on-call rota
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience managing production Linux environments
- Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation tools
- Understanding of internet protocols and networking fundamentals
- Strong scripting or automation background (e.g. Bash, Python)
- Experience optimising server performance and uptime
- Strong communicator with problem-solving mindset
Desirable:
- Experience supporting three-tier web architectures
- Experience hardening Linux systems (e.g. firewalls, IDS/IPS)
- Worked in e-commerce, fintech, or similarly fast-paced environments
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and containerised environments
