Head of Product & Engineering (AI-Native Scale-Up)
Location: Brighton (Hybrid – Minimum 2 days per week in-office)
Our client is an innovative, high-growth tech business currently transitioning to a fully AI-native operating model. Having established themselves as a disruptive force in their sector, they are entering a critical next stage of commercial growth. They are looking for a visionary, hands-on leader to unify and scale their combined Product and Engineering functions.
As the Head of Product & Engineering, you will be responsible for shaping both product and technical strategies, translating them into high-quality, commercially impactful outcomes at pace.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will operate close to the product, architecture, and delivery execution while serving as a credible leader to the SLT and enterprise customers. A core focus of this role will be designing a lean, AI-native organization, embedding AI-assisted engineering, reducing handoffs, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and sharp commercial accountability.
Key Responsibilities for Head of Product & Engineering:
- End-to-End Delivery: Own the product development lifecycle from ideation and specification through to high-velocity release and iteration.
- Partner with the CEO and SLT to align product and engineering strategies with commercial goals, maintaining a sharply prioritized, evidence-based roadmap.
- Design and lead a modern organizational model featuring small cross-functional teams, AI-assisted coding, automated QA, and rapid experimentation.
- Regularly engage with enterprise customers to build confidence in the roadmap, while translating complex technical trade-offs into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Experience Required for Head of Product & Engineering
- Proven experience scaling both Product and Engineering functions in a fast-paced scale-up.
- Hands-on experience building AI products and embedding AI-native tools into delivery workflows.
- Strong background in cloud-native architecture with the ability to make tough, pragmatic systems design decisions.
- Sharp product judgment that connects technical choices directly to revenue and customer ROI.
