JOB TITLE: Service Desk Support Engineer

LOCATION: Swindon

SALARY: £26,000 TO £30,000 per annum.

WAY OF WORKING: Hybrid

Our client is a leading UK managed IT services provider delivering secure, high-performance infrastructure, cloud, and support solutions for highly regulated sectors.

This position operates on a 24/7 rotating shift schedule, covering nights, weekends, and public holidays. Success in the role requires flexibility, commitment, and a positive, can-do attitude toward changing hours.

THE SERVICE DESK SUPPORT ENGINEER OPPORTUNITY:

We’re looking for a motivated and customer-oriented Service Desk Support Engineer to join our team, providing round-the-clock (24/7/365) support to end users. In this role, you’ll deliver first-class technical assistance, diagnose and resolve IT issues, and work to keep downtime to an absolute minimum. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the first point of contact for all IT queries and incidents, responding via phone, email, or ticketing system.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues across hardware, software, networking, and peripheral devices.
  • Log all support activity accurately, maintaining clear and complete records within the ticketing system.
  • Keep users informed throughout the resolution process, providing clear communication and helpful guidance.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to the appropriate teams while ensuring service levels are maintained.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance processes, share knowledge, and contribute to internal documentation.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Demonstrated experience in IT support, service desk, or technical troubleshooting roles.
  • Confident using enterprise tools such as Microsoft 365, VDI environments, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with IT service management platforms like ServiceNow or Jira Service Management.
  • Excellent communicator who can explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, customer-focused attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
