Test Lead (Senior QA Engineer)

Due to the industries we work in, we require the successful candidate to be able to obtain high level security clearance. To qualify for this, you must be a British citizen and have lived permanently in the UK for the last 5 years.
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Test Assurance Lead to guide one of our QA teams and ensure the delivery of our services. The Team Lead provides day to day leadership for QAT delivery and acts as the bridge between strategy and execution. The Team Lead will guide Test Engineers and Analysts, ensuring assurance reviews, readiness tests, and documentation are consistent and meaningful. This role requires a balance of technical quality experience and leadership in agile, multi-disciplinary environments.
Key Responsibilities- Validate OAT findings and ensure defect containment.
- Manage pilot assurance and readiness artifacts.
- Coordinate test execution, workflow validation, and simulation drills.
- Maintain quality metrics and defect prevention records.
- Validate testing outputs, coverage, and defect management quality.
- Support QAT Lead in reporting and value stream alignment.
- Plan and run assurance checkpoints within agile sprint cycles.
Required:
- Functional / Non Functional Testing (NFR) verification.
- Lead pilot and shadow assurance exercises to test readiness.
- Experience working in agile delivery (scrum, kanban, sprint ceremonies).
- Risk and defect management (JIRA, Confluence, Excel, Power BI).
- Strong QA leadership and analytical skills.
- Experience running incident simulations and KT validation.
- AWS operational principals (monitoring, recovery, stability).
- Proactive assurance: identifies gaps early, recommends solutions.
- Team enabler: coaches and supports others to deliver their best work.
- Outcome focused: always drives toward readiness and measurable value.
- Ownership: takes responsibility for evidence and outputs.
