Location: Croydon 2-3x a week/work from home

Due to the industries we work in, we require the successful candidate to be able to obtain high level security clearance. To qualify for this, you must be a British citizen and have lived permanently in the UK for the last 5 years.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Manual Test Engineer to join our quality assurance team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the reliability, usability, and overall quality of our services before release. You'll work closely with developers, business analysts, and product owners to understand requirements, design test strategies, and execute test cases that ensure our solutions meet the highest standards.

 

As a member of the team, you'll not only execute testing activities but also help shape QA practices, mentor junior testers, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in testing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on testing while also influencing process and quality across the delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse requirements, user stories, and technical specifications to design effective test plans and cases.
  • Execute manual functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
  • Identify, log, and track software defects, working closely with developers to resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and developers to ensure test coverage aligns with business goals.
  • Participate in test planning, effort estimation, and test execution for project deliverables.
  • Contribute to the definition and improvement of QA processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior QA engineers, sharing knowledge and guiding best practices.
  • Provide clear and detailed test results and status reporting to stakeholders.
  • Ensure quality standards are met in fast-paced agile environments.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Manual Test Engineer, with a track record in senior or advanced QA roles.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Hands-on experience with test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and agile delivery methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

 

Preferred

  • Exposure to automated testing frameworks or willingness to collaborate with automation teams.
  • Knowledge of API testing (e.g., Postman, SoapUI) or database testing (SQL).
  • Experience in testing web, mobile, or enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with performance or security testing concepts.
