Electrical Maintenance & Installation Apprentice

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to begin a career in electrical engineering. As an Electrical Apprentice, you will learn how to design, build, wire, test and install systems and machinery while working towards a Level 3 Electrical Installation & Maintenance qualification through In-Comm Training.

Role

Working alongside experienced engineers and electricians, you will gain practical, hands-on experience in both the workshop and on customer sites, developing the skills and knowledge required for a successful career in the industry. You will be working for CAPS who offer a range of battery handling products, designed and manufactured within their Telford base. CAPS portfolio stretches from simple roller beds through to powered magnetic extraction units.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings
  • Attend college / training and complete coursework
  • Learn and apply three-phase electrical installation principles, including wiring, connections, and safe isolation procedures
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on electrical installations, including three-phase systems
  • Carry out testing and inspection of electrical installations (including three-phase testing) and complete associated documentation
  • Respond to breakdowns and minimise downtime through effective troubleshooting
  • Assist with mechanical installation tasks alongside electrical work, gaining exposure to the mechanical side of equipment builds
  • Attend site to gain hands-on experience with installations, testing, and commissioning
  • Assist in commissioning new electrical installations and equipment
  • Take part in regular reviews with your manager / mentor
  • Follow all health and safety rules
  • Use tools and PPE safely
  • Report any issues or risks 

Training

This is a level 3 Electrical Instillation Apprenticeship over a duration of 42-months. The apprentice will be required to attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services, in Telford, TF3 3AJ, 1-day a week for the first 2-years as part of the training.

Successful completion of the Electrical Apprenticeship could lead to a permanent position within the company as a qualified Electrical Engineer / Electrician. You will have the opportunity to continue developing your skills through further training, gain additional industry-recognised qualifications, and take on greater responsibility within the business.

There may also be opportunities to specialise in areas such as maintenance, installation, controls, or progress into supervisory and management roles as your experience grows.
