Care Fertility Northampton is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Clinical Scientist to join our embryology team on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading fertility providers, contributing to the delivery of high-quality laboratory services and exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the embryology laboratory, undertaking advanced embryology procedures, supporting quality and governance activities, and contributing to service development and innovation.
Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will also support the development of colleagues through coaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
- Perform advanced clinical embryology procedures in accordance with regulatory and quality requirements.
- Undertake and maintain competence in core embryology techniques, including ICSI.
- Participate in laboratory quality management, governance and continuous improvement activities.
- Contribute to service development, innovation and research initiatives where appropriate.
- Support the training, supervision and development of junior colleagues and trainees.
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.
- Participate in weekend, bank holiday and on-call rotas as required.
- Work collaboratively with clinical, nursing and laboratory colleagues to deliver outstanding patient-centred care.

Job description
Job responsibilities
As a Senior Clinical Scientist youll perform the full range of routine embryological duties including ICSI and embryo biopsy. You will work with the multi-disciplinary team in coordinating treatment cycles and providing our patients with the best possible treatment experience and as a team giving each patient the very best chance of success. You will form part of the scientific leadership team and contribute to the safe and effective running of the laboratory service. Person Specification
Experience
- Significant experience working within a clinical embryology laboratory.
- Competence in core embryology procedures including ICSI.
- Experience working within quality management and governance frameworks.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to fertility services.
- Experience of embryo biopsy.
- Experience supporting service development initiatives.
- Experience coaching, mentoring or training colleagues.
- Involvement in research, innovation or quality improvement projects.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of laboratory governance and quality systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.

Qualifications
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific discipline.
