You will join a niche consultancy delivering digital transformation to the MoD
Key responsibilities
- Process Design and Improvement: Defining the SACM process strategy, objectives, policies, procedures, and work instructions. Having responsibility for the process remaining "fit for purpose" and driving its continuous improvement (CSI).
- Defining Scope and Standards: Determining the scope of what should be considered a Configuration Item (CI) or IT asset, including hardware, software, documentation, and their relationships. This also involves defining CI attributes, nomenclature, and baselines.
- Managing the Configuration Management System (CMS) and CMDB: Planning and managing the population of the CMS/CMDB, which includes discovery, integrations, and other data import methods. This role ensures regular housekeeping, security, and access levels for the data.
- Process Execution Oversight: Monitoring and reviewing the execution of the SACM process, ensuring compliance with defined procedures and data standards across all departments.
- Auditing and Verification: Defining and improving the audit process, directing periodic audits of the physical IT infrastructure against the recorded data in the CMDB to verify accuracy and completeness. Ensuring any corrective actions are carried out.
- Integration with Other Processes: Collaborating closely with other ITIL process managers, especially Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management. They provide the necessary configuration data for impact assessments, faster problem resolution, and controlled changes.
- Resource and Training Management: Coordinating the allocation of necessary resources and ensuring all staff involved in the process have the required technical knowledge and training.
- Reporting: Producing reports and management information, including KPIs, status reports, and impact analysis reports, for stakeholders.
- Lifecycle Management: Ensuring assets and CIs are tracked and managed through their entire lifecycle, from initial identification/acquisition through to retirement and disposal.
Essential Skills and Experience
- ITIL 3.0/4.0 Qualified
- Experience of delivering Government projects
- Tailoring the process to the specific project
