Clearance: Candidates can start with BPSS. Active SC clearance is highly preferred, but candidates without SC must be eligible and willing to attain it.
We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a high-performing engineering and manufacturing environment in Romsey on an initial 6-month contract.
This is a hands-on role focused on Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and process optimisation, with responsibility for improving productivity, quality, cost and manufacturing lead times.
The Role
You will work closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and wider business teams to identify opportunities for improvement, lead structured problem solving and implement sustainable manufacturing solutions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Driving Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Leading problem resolution using 8D, RCA, DMAIC and PSP.
- Optimising manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, cost and lead times.
- Implementing PFMEA, 5S and Asset Care programmes.
- Supporting electronics and hardware assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
- Investigating and resolving product and process non-conformances.
- Supporting Supply Chain improvement initiatives.
- Identifying manufacturing risks, issues and opportunities.
- Working cross-functionally to deliver significant process and operational improvements.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt qualification.
- Experience with electronic and electro-mechanical assembly and testing.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and product non-conformances.
- Strong knowledge of 8D, RCA, DMAIC and PSP problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience with PFMEA, 5S and Asset Care.
- Experience working with automated and manual measurement/test equipment.
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems; IFS would be advantageous.
- A relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
