We are seeking a Senior AWS Architect for a 6-month contract to join a prestigious global IT and business consulting firm.

You will be the technical authority for a well-established agile team, guiding them on a high-stakes project for a major London-based client.

This is a pivotal role where your expertise will be the deciding factor in navigating challenging engineering decisions and ensuring successful delivery.

The Role:

As the Senior Architect, you will be less of a hands-on coder and more of a technical leader and arbiter.

You will provide the strategic oversight and technical guidance needed to meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality or security.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead the team through complex technical discussions, mediate debates, and make definitive architectural decisions.

When faced with the classic "speed vs. safety" dilemma, your experience in modern software engineering practices will be essential to making the right call.

You will be the bridge between the technical team and C-level stakeholders, translating complex issues into clear, concise business implications.

Essential Experience & Skills:

Leadership: Demonstrable experience leading, guiding, and mentoring software engineering teams.

Agile Expertise: A deep, practical understanding of modern agile practices, including CI/CD, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and making pragmatic decisions under pressure.

Stakeholder Management: The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to senior and C-level stakeholders.

Technical Skills

Cloud: AWS (Essential)

Architecture: Microservices, Domain-Driven Design (DDD)

Back-End: NodeJS / Typescript

Infrastructure as Code: Terraform

CI/CD: GitHub Actions

Front-End: React

Code Literacy: While this is not a hands-on coding role, the ability to read and understand implementations at the code level is crucial for making informed decisions.

Desirable Skills:

Experience with software, data, and infrastructure practices for handling data at the Official-Sensitive classification.

Background in designing or working with safety-critical systems.

Current, active SC Clearance.
