An exciting opportunity is available for a Shift Process Engineer to join a high-technology semiconductor manufacturing operation in Northamptonshire.
This is a key role within a busy wafer fabrication environment, providing first-line process engineering support across a 24/7 manufacturing operation. The position would suit an experienced Process Engineer, Engineering Technician or recent Engineering/Science graduate looking to develop a career within semiconductor manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for wafer fab process and manufacturing issues during shift.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues to support production.
- Ensure timely release of manufacturing material and appropriate management of process holds.
- Coordinate tool requalification following maintenance activities.
- Support the investigation and triage of scrap, process deviations and near-miss events.
- Raise and manage process deviations (DEVs) for out-of-specification events and non-standard manufacturing activity.
- Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing teams.
- Create and maintain measurement macros for new products and measurement equipment.
- Provide clear written shift handovers, documenting outstanding issues and required actions.
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and technical teams to maintain production flow and quality.
Requirements
- HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Science, Semiconductor Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience at Technician/Senior Operator level.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, particularly during out-of-hours shifts.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment and wearing cleanroom clothing.
- A flexible, reliable and professional approach to work.
Desirable Experience
- Semiconductor / wafer fabrication / cleanroom manufacturing experience.
- Experience with computer-controlled semiconductor processing equipment.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), particularly PROMIS.
- Understanding of Six Sigma / continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working within a high-volume, high-technology manufacturing environment.
