Information Technology Governance Manager

GCP Governance and Compliance Manager - 6 Month Rolling Contract - £717 Per day inside IR35 - Hybrid Manchester

We're partnering with a leading global bank on an exciting cloud transformation programme. They are building non production and production Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Landing Zones, including an Internet Facing Environment (IFE) for hosting external APIs.

To ensure the platform fully meets stringent security standards, integrates with established governance processes, and complies with the internal Cloud Controls Framework (CCF), they require an experienced GCP Governance and Compliance Manager.

You will serve as the primary governance lead for the GCP Landing Zone programme. This involves bridging engineering delivery with enterprise wide governance, driving compliance, audit readiness, and regulatory engagements throughout the lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mapping of internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements to GCP Landing Zone architecture and deliverables.
  • Maintain full traceability between the Cloud Controls Framework, policies/standards, and technical implementations, ensuring controls are evidenced, auditable, and effective.
  • Implement automated compliance validation, drift detection, and continuous monitoring.
  • Collaborate with Controls Assurance and Testing teams on attestation, testing, and remediation.
  • Represent governance interests in programme forums, working groups, and milestone reviews.
  • Prepare and present evidence for key approvals (e.g. architecture reviews, technology committees, security engagements).
  • Drive regulatory engagements (e.g. PRA/FCA) to secure approvals for platform usage, including documentation and reporting.
  • Onboard the platform to BAU Group Cloud Governance processes, identifying/remediating gaps.
  • Ensure all governance and compliance documentation is audit ready (internal/external).
  • Maintain operational runbooks, readiness playbooks, and guides.
  • Track risks, gaps, and remediation status; report progress to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance governance processes in line with evolving cloud strategy.
  • Contribute to refinements of the Cloud Controls Framework as needed.

Essential Experience

  • Proven background in cloud governance, risk, and compliance within a regulated financial services environment (banking highly advantageous).
  • Deep knowledge of GCP architecture, landing zones, security controls, and best practices.
  • Experience mapping policies/standards to cloud implementations and ensuring audit/compliance readiness.
  • Strong stakeholder management across technology, security, risk, and regulatory teams.
  • Familiarity with financial services regulations (e.g., PRA/FCA) and cloud governance frameworks.

This is a high impact role in a major GCP adoption programme, ideal for a governance specialist looking to influence enterprise cloud strategy in a Tier 1 bank.
