Server & Storage Infrastructure Engineer

Location - Epsom, Surrey (Hybrid)

Salary - £60,000 – £63,000 + Expenses Covered

My client is looking for an experienced Server & Storage Infrastructure Engineer to join a highly skilled IT Infrastructure team within a global leader in design, engineering, and project management services.

This role sits within the Infrastructure Solutions team, responsible for delivering enterprise-level infrastructure solutions and providing advanced technical support across critical business projects. Working alongside technical specialists and subject matter experts, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting modern infrastructure platforms that enable business performance and innovation.

The successful candidate will have strong experience across enterprise server, storage, and virtualization technologies, with a particular focus on HPE storage platforms and Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI), which are the core technologies within the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions across server, storage, and virtualization environments.
• Provide technical leadership across infrastructure projects, from initial design through to deployment and support.
• Support and contribute to an ongoing infrastructure migration project from NetApp to HPE storage platforms.
• Manage and maintain predominantly on-premise infrastructure environments, with limited cloud exposure across the estate.
• Work across infrastructure installation, configuration, implementation, optimisation, and operational support activities.
• Produce high and low-level technical designs, implementation documentation, and operational procedures.
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather technical and business requirements.
• Recommend scalable and secure infrastructure solutions aligned to current and future business needs.
• Carry out implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and optimisation activities.
• Provide advanced L3 infrastructure support across critical platforms and services.
• Support and maintain Linux-based infrastructure environments where required.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong L2/L3 experience supporting and administering Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI).
• Experience designing and deploying Nutanix HCI solutions.
• Excellent knowledge of HPE enterprise server and storage platforms.
• Experience working on or supporting storage migration projects, ideally involving NetApp to HPE environments.
• Strong VMware infrastructure and virtualization experience.
• Excellent understanding of Veeam Backup & Replication technologies.
• Solid experience with Microsoft Server technologies, including Active Directory and domain services.
• Good understanding of Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and core networking principles.
• Experience managing and supporting predominantly on-premise infrastructure estates.
• Exposure to Linux operating systems and infrastructure support.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven experience delivering technical infrastructure projects within large enterprise environments.
