Senior Solutions Engineer (Compute, Storage & Networking)

Role Purpose

This role provides senior-level technical expertise in the delivery and support of customer infrastructure solutions, with a primary focus on compute and storage platforms and the ability to extend into enterprise networking technologies. The position also supports customer-facing solution design activities on an occasional basis, acting as a trusted technical authority across delivery and pre-sales engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Delivery (Primary Focus)

  • Deploy, configure, validate, and hand over infrastructure solutions at customer locations.
  • Deliver technical services to customers both within the UK and internationally, including extended onsite engagements where required.
  • Coordinate delivery activities with customers, partners, and third-party providers.
  • Operate flexibly across delivery-related functions, supporting areas such as technical operations, professional services, managed services, and project coordination as needed.
  • Lead or contribute to multi-engineer delivery teams on customer projects.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Ensure accurate completion of project documentation, service records, and internal systems.
  • Collaborate with project management and technical leadership to plan and prepare delivery activities.
  • Take responsibility for successful technical outcomes across assigned customer projects.

Pre-Sales & Solution Design Support (Occasional)

  • Participate in customer-facing technical engagements, including workshops, presentations, and solution discussions.
  • Contribute to the design of infrastructure solutions covering compute, storage, networking, and related services.
  • Assist in the production of technical documentation such as RFIs, statements of work, and low-level designs.
  • Support solution costing activities through the creation of bills of materials.
  • Respond to internal technical queries raised during the sales cycle in a timely and professional manner.
  • Deliver technical demonstrations and solution walkthroughs for customers when required.

Professional & Managed Services

  • Attend customer sites to deliver agreed solutions and technical services.
  • Maintain ownership of assigned delivery workstreams and customer engagements.
  • Define and document technical scope for customer projects.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and high-quality customer-facing documentation.

Certifications & Continuous Development

  • Maintain relevant vendor and industry certifications in line with business requirements.
  • Complete ongoing technical training, including vendor-led and self-directed learning.
  • Proactively identify development opportunities that support both individual growth and organisational capability.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

Technical Experience

  • Proven hands-on experience delivering enterprise infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of technologies from vendors such as HPE, Dell, Pure Storage, Juniper, Aruba, and Cisco.
  • Experience with compute, storage, networking, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with orchestration and management platforms (e.g. Juniper Apstra).
  • Practical experience working with CLI-based systems and automation/orchestration tools.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • HPE ASE (Storage – Architect or Integrator; Hybrid Cloud)
  • HPE Master ASE (advantageous but not essential)
  • HPE Solutions certifications (AI, VME, Data Protection)
  • Networking certifications from Aruba, Juniper, or Cisco

This is 4 days on site and 1 day from home.
