Are you an experienced Control Systems Engineer looking to work on technically challenging projects from concept through to commissioning?
Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of bespoke low-voltage switchgear, distribution boards, transformers and containerised substations, delivering solutions for industrial, commercial and critical infrastructure projects throughout the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Control Systems Engineer to join their expanding engineering team.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in the full project lifecycle, designing, developing, integrating, testing and commissioning control systems for LV switchgear, power management and energy monitoring applications.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager and wider engineering team, you'll develop practical, reliable control solutions while supporting projects from initial concept through to client handover.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and commission PLC, HMI and SCADA control systems.
- Develop software for switchboard control, generator control, ATS schemes, load shedding and energy monitoring applications.
- Configure PLCs, HMIs, protection relays, metering equipment and communication devices.
- Produce control philosophies, I/O schedules, network layouts and technical documentation.
- Carry out internal FAT, client FAT and commissioning activities.
- Diagnose and resolve control system issues during manufacture, testing and commissioning.
- Work closely with electrical design, production and test teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
- Provide technical support to clients and internal departments.
Requirements
- Experience as a Control Systems Engineer, Controls Engineer, PLC Engineer or Automation Engineer.
- Strong electrical background with experience of industrial control systems.
- Experience developing PLC, HMI and/or SCADA applications.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control wiring diagrams.
- Practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a project-focused engineering environment.
Experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi or similar PLC platforms would be advantageous but is not essential.
