The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. We work, build and operate bespoke, technically complex, mission-critical systems which help our clients keep us all safe and secure. Our roles are only available if you hold a UK Security Clearance and are a sole UK National due to the secure nature of the project. You will either hold a higher level clearance or be willing to obtain it. Any individual without security clearance is welcome to apply and will always be considered for this or wider opportunities in CGI, where appropriate.

We're looking to grow our Data Office team, working directly with the client to ensure that all aspects of their Data Management strategy are delivered.

Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Technical BA you will be responsible for:

Data Modelling
Design and develop Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models to support robust data architectures.

Produce high-quality documentation including data dictionaries, database designs, and data flow diagrams.

Work with Ontologies and Knowledge Graphs to enhance semantic understanding of data.

Utilise modelling tools such as Visio, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or Draw.IO.

Apply modelling languages such as UML or Express-G to effectively communicate data structures.

Data Standards & Governance
Author and maintain detailed technical specifications and documentation.

Lead efforts to assure systems and data models against internal and industry standards.

Develop, promote, and govern data standards across teams and business units.

Act as a champion for data quality and consistency, influencing stakeholders to adopt best practices.

Metadata Management
Design and implement Data Catalogues and Metadata Repositories to support data discovery and lineage tracking.

Use industry tools such as Apache Atlas, Hive Metastore, AWS Glue, or AWS DataZone to manage metadata assets.

Data Architecture & Business Alignment
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business problems into scalable data solutions.

Contribute to the design and implementation of modern data platforms including data lakes, data warehouses, data pipelines, data meshes, and data marketplaces.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Proven experience in data modelling, including development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models.

Strong ability to create and interpret data dictionaries, database designs, and data flow diagrams.

Familiarity with ontologies and knowledge graphs in a data architecture context.

Proficiency in using modelling tools such as Visio, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or Draw.IO.

Competency in modelling languages such as UML and Express-G.

Hands-on experience writing technical specifications and conducting technical assurance against established data standards.

Demonstrated leadership in the development and governance of data standards within an organisation.

Experience designing or developing data catalogues and metadata repositories.

Working knowledge of metadata management tools like Apache Atlas, Hive Metastore, AWS Glue, or AWS DataZone.

Solid understanding of modern data architectures, with involvement in designing data lakes, data warehouses, pipelines, meshes, or marketplaces.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
