Title: Scientific & Innovation Lead

Purpose of the role

To lead and shape CLINIGMA’s qualitative innovation agenda, with a particular focus on advancing in-trial interview methodology and translating patient-experience data into trusted, decision-ready evidence.

Key responsibilities

Scientific and methodological leadership

• Set and drive a focused scientific roadmap for qualitative in-trial research, including study design, analysis, interpretation and reporting.
• Advance approaches to capturing and interpreting the trial patient voice, including symptom experience, functioning, quality of life, treatment experience, tolerability and trial participation.
• Develop scientifically defensible ways to connect interview findings with COAs, biomarkers and other clinical-trial data, while preserving the integrity and meaning of qualitative evidence.
• Lead or contribute to methodological research, publications, conference outputs and external collaborations that strengthen CLINIGMA’s scientific authority.

Innovation and technology partnership

• Work in close partnership with the CTO, AI and data-engineering teams, programmers and academic collaborators to identify high-value innovation opportunities.
• Shape the scientific requirements, governance and validation approach for technology-enabled qualitative methods, including AI-supported analysis where it adds value.
• Test, evaluate and translate new approaches into practical, scalable solutions for use in client programmes.

Client and commercial contribution

• Act as a senior scientific partner to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, helping them incorporate patient-experience evidence into clinical development and evidence strategies.
• Act as Scientific Lead on selected client projects, providing senior scientific oversight from study design through interpretation and reporting.
• Lead or support strategic client discussions, scientific workshops, proposals and thought-leadership activity.
• Remain hands-on in selected studies and proposals to build sponsor relationships, recognise unmet needs and ensure innovation remains grounded in delivery.

Internal scientific leadership

• Work alongside the CSO and Science Leadership Team to embed methodological excellence and objective-driven scientific quality across CLINIGMA.
• Coach colleagues through scientific problem-solving and contribute to capability development in qualitative research and patient-experience evidence.
• Help build an ambitious, collaborative scientific environment.
