Legal Tech Product Manager

Role Purpose
To work as part of the Legal Tech Team at CMS to support with the adoption of our Legal Tech tools, spearheading our commitment to being a future facing firm using best in practice tools to support our colleagues and better serve our clients.
This will include working alongside other Legal Tech Product Managers, Solution Engineers and Legal Technologists on our Legal Tech Team, the wider Innovation team and Practice Groups.
Key internal relationships: Legal Tech, Innovation team, LOPM team, IT, Procurement and Infosec functions, Practice Groups
Based: London, Glasgow or Edinburgh (travel to other CMS offices may be necessary)
Hours: Full time
Duration: Permanent
Responsibilities Include
Subject matter expert of our legal tech tools, to be able to confidently talk and demo about all the tools in our legal tech stack.
Responsibilities
Account management responsibilities working with customer success teams from our suppliers for one (or more) of our Legal Tech Tools. Responsibilities include:
  • Define vision and SMART objectives for the Legal Tech Tool(s) they manage, identifying requirements needed increase adoption and engagement
  • Ensure alignment with infosec policies
  • Develop and maintain process and procedure guides
  • Work with Senior Product Manager(s) on supplier negotiations, renewals and onboarding of any new tools
  • Collaborate with the Legal Tech Delivery team to ensure the business receives the necessary support to effectively implement our Legal Tech Tools on their matters
  • Collate and analyse value metrics to articulate and quantify the value obtained through the adoption of the tools
  • Create and maintain a bank of case studies to showcase value of the tool to new users and communicate throughout the firm
  • Design and deliver training sessions and materials to support lawyers across the business on how to use Legal Tech products effectively and efficiently
This role will be aligned to one of our Practice Groups as a Legal Tech Liaison. Responsibilities include:
  • Build Legal Tech presence within the Practice Group and stakeholder management
  • Understanding use cases/ work-types of the Practice Group to design custom adoption activities aligned to their needs
  • Collaborate closely with the Practice Group to help them achieve their innovation strategy alongside wider Innovation team
  • Lead Legal Tech training sessions for aligned Practice Groups
  • Host scoping meetings with people across the Practice Group to discuss application of legal tech on matter delivery alongside Legal Ops & Project Management team.
Work and be a part of an agile Product Management team, including the creation and management of assigned tool backlog.
Client Facing Role, Support On The Following Activities
  • Client facing training sessions including e-learning opportunities, webinars or roundtables.
  • Responding to client requests for proposal (RFPs)
  • Creation of word documents or PowerPoint decks to outline Legal Tech & Innovation initiatives at CMS support winning new work alongside Business Development team
  • Attend client meetings alongside colleagues across the business, leading on discussion around Legal Tech at CMS
Keep abreast of any market changes and new tools within the space, working with the wider Legal Tech Product Team to consider for testing and piloting internally.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience as a practicing solicitor having used Legal Tech tools on matters would be favourable. Alternatively, product management experience with Legal Tech tools at a law firm.
  • Experience working within an agile environment would be a plus, given our recent agile transformation.
  • Effective management of senior stakeholders.
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills to manage mixed role and busy workload.
  • Experience with project management would be a plus.
  • Strong meeting facilitation experience with senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Experience with project scoping is a must.
  • Strong communications skills are essential.
  • Solution oriented, problem solver and self-starter mindset.
  • Able to adapt and navigate a disruptive and changeable market.
