Description
CMap is a fast-growing software company helping project-based businesses win, deliver, and manage work... profitably.
At our core, we're problem-solvers building software that works in the real world. We understand that design isn't just about making things look good – it's about understanding complex user needs, challenging assumptions, and designing solutions that actually improve how our clients work.
Our design function is trusted to lead research, shape product direction, and work closely with engineering and product to deliver meaningful improvements to our platform. We value thoughtful problem-solving over pixel perfection, and we create space for designers to take ownership and make an impact.
We're proud of our product and even prouder of our people. Collaboration, openness, and input from across the business drive both our culture and our success. We keep things friendly and informal, but we're serious about building something great together.
What we're looking for:
As our new UX Designer, you'll play a key role in shaping how users experience CMap's platform. You'll lead user research, create wireframes and prototypes, and work closely with developers and business analysts to turn insights into well-designed solutions. This is a hands-on role where you'll tackle real problems across a complex, modular product that serves businesses of all sizes.
You'll have the opportunity to wear multiple hats – from conducting user interviews to designing UI, from prototyping new features to refining existing flows. No two days will be the same, and you'll be encouraged to spot opportunities, take initiative, and make the product better.
You will:
  • Play an active role in user research activities, including interviews and usability testing, to inform design decisions
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows that clearly communicate design solutions
  • Work closely with Business Analysts and Developers to ensure designs are well-understood and effectively implemented
  • Design UI elements and interfaces that balance user needs with technical feasibility
  • Contribute to evolving our design system and establishing consistent patterns across the platform
  • Switch context across different areas of the product, from resourcing to financials to integrations
  • Challenge existing approaches and advocate for better user experiences
  • Take ownership of design projects from research through to delivery
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Experience in a UX design role, with a portfolio demonstrating user research and design process
  • User research skills, including conducting interviews and synthesizing findings
  • Proficiency in wireframing, prototyping, and creating user flows
  • Solid UI design skills and familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)
  • Excellent communication skills – both in presenting ideas and in documenting decisions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with developers, understanding technical constraints and possibilities
  • Comfortable working on complex B2B software with multiple user types and workflows
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative, spotting opportunities for improvement
  • Experience working in an agile environment and adapting to changing priorities
What we offer:
  • Private medical & dental insurance: Supporting your health and wellbeing with access to private care.
  • Life assurance: Providing extra financial security for you and your loved ones.
  • Help@Hand: 24/7 support for your health and wellbeing.
  • Enhanced parental leave: Offering time and support when it matters most.
  • Reward Gateway: Access to discounts on a wide range of everyday purchases.
  • Team outings and events: Regular chances to connect and unwind.
  • Manchester city-centre office: A modern WeWork space with great facilities and free barista coffee.
Research has shown that people don't always apply for roles if they don't have all the required skills. If you believe you are the right fit and can be successful in this role, we are keen to meet you and encourage you to apply.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status or disability status.
