Field Services Engineer

We are looking for a motivated Field Services Engineer to support a large-scale IT device refresh programme. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of IT support experience who enjoys providing hands-on technical support, resolving user issues, and delivering outstanding customer service.

You'll be responsible for supporting end-user computing devices, workplace technologies, and associated IT services while working in a fast-paced onsite environment.

Location: Edinburgh (Onsite)

Contract: 6 Months Fixed-Term Contract (Initial)

IR35: Inside IR35

Security Clearance: UK National (Q1 Clearance Required)

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, and deploy desktop and laptop devices.
  • Support a large-scale device refresh programme.
  • Provide onsite technical support for end users.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Support Microsoft Windows 10/11 environments.
  • Assist users with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot desktop, laptop, and peripheral devices.
  • Provide basic Active Directory administration.
  • Assist with onsite data centre "hands and eyes" support.
  • Record and manage incidents using IT Service Management tools.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while meeting agreed SLAs.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 1–2 years' experience in an IT Support, Service Desk, or Technical Support role.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP).
  • Basic Active Directory administration.
  • Experience supporting desktop and laptop hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently in an onsite environment.

Desirable Skills

  • ITIL Foundation Certification.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification.
  • Microsoft Fundamentals Certification.
  • Experience using ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms.
  • Mobile device support experience.
