Creative Technologist
We're looking for a Creative Technologist to join the Art and Media team.
We create bold, experiential work. Attractions, environments, installations, moments where creative and technology come together in unexpected ways. This role sits right in the middle of that.
You’ll be exploring ideas, building prototypes, and figuring out how things actually work. Sometimes that’s in Unity. Sometimes it’s scripts, tools, or workflows. Sometimes it’s connecting digital systems to something physical in the real world.
A lot of the time, there isn’t a clear path. That’s the point.
You’ll take creative ideas and help turn them into something real. Not always polished, not always perfect, but far enough that the team can see it, react to it, and build on it. You’ll work across projects, jumping in where things get unclear, technical, or just a bit weird. Part problem-solver, part builder, part collaborator.
Key Responsibilities
1. Explore and Prototype
- Quickly turn ideas into rough prototypes that the team can see and respond to.
- Experiment with different approaches, tools and techniques to find what works.
- Contribute to early-stage thinking by showing what’s possible, not just describing it.
2. Build Real-Time and Interactive Work
- Develop interactive and real-time elements, often using Unity, touch designer or similar platforms.
- Create systems such as particle effects, interactions, and visual behaviours.
- Keep performance and stability in mind as ideas move closer to delivery
3. Figure Things Out
- Take on problems that don’t have a clear owner or solution.
- Work across different tools and technologies to get something working.
- Build scripts, tools or processes where needed to support the work.
- Be comfortable learning what you need, when you need it.
4. Support Projects Where It Matters
- Work alongside Creative Leads and the wider team to bring ideas to life.
- Step into projects when something needs unblocking or testing.
- Help bridge the gap between creative ambition and technical reality.
5. Share What You Learn
- Bring others into your thinking and process where useful.
- Share tools, techniques and discoveries with the team.
- Help raise the overall confidence of the team when working with technology.
You should have:
- Experience in creative technology, interactive media, or similar fields.
- Comfort working with real-time engines such as Unity (or similar).
- Ability to work across different tools, languages or platforms when needed.
- A curious, self-driven mindset, motivated by figuring things out.
- Comfort working without a clear answer or approach.
- A collaborative and open way of working with others.
A good fit for this role is someone who:
- Likes being given a problem more than a brief
- Enjoys experimenting and building things from scratch
- Doesn’t mind not knowing the answer straight away
- Gets energy from making ideas real
