Software Development Trainer

Location: Brighton, Telecom House (training centre class room delivery)

Contract Type: Freelance / Associate (June – September 2026)

We are looking for a friendly, experienced Software Development Trainer to lead our upcoming 8-week Skills Bootcamp with a focus on industry learning and and helping local people get on in their chosen careers.

• Be a Guide: Support a cohort of 15 motivated adults (19+) through an 8-day (one day per week) intensive journey, turning their intermediate knowledge into professional-grade skills.
• Share Real-World Logic: Move beyond the textbook to teach Python, Full-Stack JS, and Cloud Deployment through the lens of how things actually work in a modern dev team.
• Foster Collaboration: Lead agile-style group work that mirrors the Brighton tech scene—collaborative, creative, and respectful.
• Build Confidence: Help learners debug their code and their career paths, providing the feedback they need to transition into developer, web, or technical project roles.

We need someone who is comfortable "talking shop" and teaching the following:

• Python & Logic: Solving real-world problems with clean, modular code.
• The Full Stack: Building responsive Front-Ends (HTML/CSS/JS) and robust Back-Ends.
• Data & Cloud: Practical database design and getting applications live.
• The "Pro" Skills: Debugging, testing, and Git workflow.

• A People Person: You’re mindful that everyone learns differently. You’re patient, encouraging, and love seeing that "aha!" moment in a student’s eyes.
• A Sussex Advocate: You care about local employment and want to see our regional businesses powered by local talent.
• A Practitioner: You’ve been in the trenches of software development and want to share your passion with those just starting their professional journey.
• Inclusive & Supportive: You champion diversity and create a space where everyone, regardless of background, feels they belong in tech.

• Flexibility: We value your time - this is a focused 8-day delivery commitment within the June - September window and an option to extend.
• Community Impact: You’ll be a key part of the Get Sussex Working initiative, directly tackling the skills gap in our county.
• Connection: Network with our partners, from local startups to partners like Warner Bros and the University of Sussex.
• Excellent rates of pay ranging from £200 - £400 subject to skills and exeprience
