Degree Apprentice Customer Engineer

The Degree Apprentice Customer Engineer shall work as an integral member of the G-Drive OEM Integration team based at the Cummins facility in Daventry, Northamptonshire. The role is to assist OEM’s with product selection, design and installation reviews across a range of projects in the EMEA region.

Role

During the apprenticeship, increasing levels of responsibility shall be given in line with academic and internal training. The aim is to build and develop the wide range of skills and capabilities required to become a Customer Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow the Degree Apprenticeship Program, including attendance and study at Warwick University.
  • Be the technical face of Cummins to our Customers.
  • Support GOEM’s with Product Selection, Design Review and Installation Review in accordance with the Cummins IQA process
  • A level of customer travel is to be expected.
  • Answer technical queries from our large and varied customer base across the EMEA region.
  • Participate in, and lead initiatives and projects, including 6 Sigma projects.
  • Working with your Line Manager and Mentor, develop specialism during the five-year degree apprenticeship in one of the key areas of customer engineering. For example this can be any of (but not limited to): Aftertreatment IQA, Natural Gas, 6 Sigma Project Management, Engine Performance Optimisation.
  • Continue professional development through reviews with your coach and mentor support network.

Training

  • The role over the five-year term will be focused within the G-Drive OEM Integration team, working alongside our experienced team at our site in Daventry.
  • The successful candidate will also study towards an Engineering Degree BEng (Hons) at Warwick University. Study with the University will be undertaken as block release at the University of Warwick campus in Coventry.
  • Opportunities to apply for a full-time position after successful completion of the apprenticeship.
