Senior Business Analyst - Insurtech

Senior Business Analyst – Insurance, AI & Digital Transformation

Salary: c£80,000 – £100,000 base

Location: UK Remote (occasional London days)

This is not a conventional Business Analyst role. Our impressive Digital MGA client is targeting significant growth over the next three years—and building AI capability to support it. Its in-house portfolio includes multi-product rating engines, AI extraction pipelines, redesigned underwriting workbenches and an innovation framework that tests the value of every idea before development begins.

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst who can translate how underwriters actually work into systems, processes and specifications that engineering teams can build—and who will establish and lead a growing BA Knowledge Hub across the business.

The opportunity

One day, you might turn a 45-minute workshop recording into 30 clear, numbered requirements. The next, you could be mapping an AI document-extraction journey and deciding exactly where human review must sit before it can safely be trusted with a live insurance process. You will work across Cyber, D&O, Transaction Risk and Property, developing a real understanding of the different data models, underwriting conventions and flagging logic behind each product. Alongside, you will create the standards, tools and community that help the wider Business Analysis practice scale consistently across squads, portfolios and geographies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Translating workshops, voice notes, broker feedback and stakeholder conversations into structured, buildable specifications
  • Mapping current and future-state processes for major system migrations
  • Designing and pressure-testing AI-enabled workflows, including confidence thresholds, human-in-the-loop controls and rollback processes
  • Leading requirements discovery across multiple commercial insurance products
  • Developing evidence-based business cases for new portfolio initiatives
  • Building sufficient underwriting knowledge to understand how insurance concepts—including loss ratios, earned premium and written premium—affect system design
  • Managing competing stakeholder needs and providing a clear, credible narrative when delivery plans or go-live dates come under pressure
  • Building and leading a BA Knowledge Hub and AI toolkit for analysts working across the business

About you

  • Strong, relevant Business Analysis experience, ideally gained from 5-7 years+ gained in at an B2B Insurer or Digital MGA (For this role, we are not able to shortlist CVs with a revenue-generating commercial SaaS focus)
  • Genuine hands-on experience using AI tools to support requirements drafting, discovery and analysis - essential
  • High record of academic achievement (2:1+degree ideal), coupled with strong, positive interpersonal skills
  • A track record of turning complex, ambiguous information into clear requirements and practical delivery plans
  • Excellent stakeholder management, listening and synthesis skills
  • Experience mentoring, leading or informally coordinating other Business Analysts
  • The ability to build and document repeatable methods—not simply follow an existing methodology
  • Practical agile delivery experience, including backlog refinement, acceptance criteria and sprint ceremonies
  • The instinct to turn an effective personal technique into a repeatable standard the whole team can use

Commercial or Specialty insurance or MGA knowledge would be a strong advantage, but curiosity, intellectual flexibility and an appetite to understand underwriting in depth will be equally important. This is an unusually broad opportunity combining senior hands-on delivery with genuine influence over how an expanding Business Analysis function develops. If you enjoy making sense of complexity, shaping responsible AI workflows and raising the standard of the people around you, we would be very interested in speaking with you.
