Lead Developer - AI & VoIP (Contact Centre Software Platform)

As part of our next phase of growth, we're expanding our internal software house to build the next generation of AI-driven telephony and contact centre products.

The Role:

We are seeking a Lead Developer (AI & VoIP) to head up our 15-strong software development team. You will oversee the design, build, and optimisation of software and services that integrate directly with our in-house developed telephony platform, enabling automation, analytics, and intelligent call management across our network.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in an environment where innovation, reliability, and scalability are critical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary development team (Python, React, Java, .NET).
  • Architect and deliver new platform features supporting AI-powered contact centre operations.
  • Drive technical excellence across application design, VoIP integration and API-based interoperability.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, network, and operations teams to ensure high availability and low-latency telephony performance.
  • Oversee code quality, release cycles, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with senior management to translate business strategy into product roadmaps and deliverables.
  • Guide the adoption of modern frameworks, AI integrations, and real-time data processing.

About You:

  • 7+ years of full-stack software development experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Strong background in Python, React, and Java; .NET experience beneficial but not essential.
  • Proven experience in VoIP, SIP, or telephony-based application development
  • Experience in AI or automation frameworks (chatbots, NLP, or machine learning integrations) highly desirable.
  • Excellent people leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and grow high-performing teams.
  • Strong grasp of system architecture, scalability, and microservices principles.
  • Confident communicating technical strategy to both engineers and executives.
