Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer (AWS) – Contract

Contract Length: 6 months (initial)

Rate: £500 per day

IR35: Outside IR35

Location: London (some onsite presence required)

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to support a globally recognised organisation in the creative sector during a period of technology transformation.

This is a hands-on contract role with responsibility for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available AWS-based infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud architecture ensuring scalability, resilience, and high availability
  • Automate infrastructure and application provisioning, configuration, and deployment
  • Manage containerised environments (Amazon ECS) and serverless workloads (AWS Lambda)
  • Provide 3rd line support and escalation for complex infrastructure issues
  • Optimise and maintain cloud-managed network environments
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning to ensure platform reliability
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and security teams to align infrastructure with business requirements
  • Maintain and optimise Linux-based systems, including scripting and automation
  • Ensure adherence to AWS security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and monitoring

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer in a transformation or change environment
  • Strong background as a Cloud Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services including CloudFormation, ECS, Lambda, EC2, and S3
  • Strong Linux system administration and scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management
  • Strong knowledge of AWS security principles and best practices
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. CloudWatch, ELK, Datadog)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MySQL and/or SQL Server

This role is suited to an AWS-focused contractor looking for an Outside IR35 engagement with clear deliverables and strong technical ownership.
