We are looking for suitable candidates to undertake apprenticeships. The postholder will receive full training provided from both in-house and external training providers, and will be expected to complete academic training to Level 3 qualifications provided by Cambridge Regional College.
Clinical Engineering is primarily concerned with providing medical device management services in terms of procurement, repair, calibration and maintenance to a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment across the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is the responsibility of Clinical Engineering to ensure equipment operates effectively and safely with a minimum of downtime. Clinical equipment covered incorporates electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer software and medical gas systems. The department works to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 quality standards and is responsible for the management of over 60,000 medical devices used across the hospital and in the community throughout East Anglia.
Applicants should have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade A* to C (9 to 4) to include maths, science and English.
Main duties of the job
o 2 x positions within the Medical Electronics technical services sectiono 1 x position within the Mechanical Engineering technical services section
You will train on delivering scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, safety and acceptance testing on a wide range of medical devices.
You are required to work to a high standard of safety and accountability.
You will be required to show good progress in the academic training.

Not already hold qualifications or experience that would duplicate the content of the apprenticeship (i.e. the programme must represent new learning rather than repetition of an existing qualification).

Qualifications
- A minimum of five GCSEs at grade A* to C (9 to 4) to include maths, science and English.
- A-levels in science or engineering subjects.
Experience
- Interest in Mechanical and Electrical Technology.
- Interest in Computer systems, Microsoft applications.
- Work experience in healthcare setting or service environment.
Knowledge
- Awareness of the need to demonstrate a professional appearance and behaviour.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and data protection.
- Knowledge of health and safety awareness and safe working practices.
Skills
- Intermediate IT skills. Able to use Microsoft word and excel at a basic level.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise own workload.
- Able to lift low to medium weights.
- Use of fine tools for equipment adjustment.
- Problem solving skills.
