Director of Analytics and Insights

Job summary

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join us as Director of Insight and Analytics.

This post is central to the delivery of our Trust strategy and is responsible for leading the development of the new insights, analytics and planning directorate.

This newly formed directorate will bring together existing teams as well as building new capacity toprovide board to ward information to provide early warning of deteriorating metrics and enable effective decision making at all levels in the organisation.

This role requires an expert leader in data sciences and planning who will capitalise on the depth of information available from our EPR.

The role will suit someone who has experience of and enjoys developing new functions and ways of working across organisations and is confident in engaging with very senior stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Analytics and Insight will develop and deliver the Trust's strategy to strengthen the business planning process and integrate into the Trust's performance governance; improve the reporting and insights that facilitate early escalation of risks including through the Integrated Performance Report; and ensure that the Business Intelligence and Analytics functions provide the Trust and stakeholders with comprehensive business intelligence and analysis, developing the technical foundations to achieve this.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Masters Degree Level education or equivalent, gained in a health delivery related subject
  • Significant experience in the healthcare sector at senior level.
Desirable
  • PhD or advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field

Knowledge and Experience

Essential
  • Experience as a Senior Manager within an NHS organisation in a performance, informatics or commissioning setting
  • Sound knowledge base of the NHS, the current issues, its values and principles of timely local access for the population
  • Experience within an acute hospital setting
  • Exceptionally high level of numeracy and ability in health based statistical modelling
  • Proven record of leading complex, multi- faceted management systems relating to performance and/or planning
  • A strategic thinker with highly developed communication and negotiation skills, coupled with commercial acumen
  • Demonstrable evidence of working at immediately sub-Board level
  • Significant experience of delivering complex strategic and operational planning data
  • Strong networker and relationship builder
  • Ability to give formal presentations
  • Significant experience of delivering complex strategic and operational planning frameworks
  • Demonstrable evidence of managing specialist multi-disciplinary staff as a coherent team
  • Proven experience in a senior data science or advanced analytics leadership role, preferably within healthcare or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of data science techniques, including machine learning, AI, predictive analytics, and big data technologies
  • Strong track record of delivering complex data science projects that improve business or clinical outcomes
  • Knowledge of healthcare NHS data systems, electronic health records, data architecture, and NHS data governance regulations
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with experience in building and leading data science teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders
Desirable
  • Experience of partnership working, evidence of playing a major role in an organisational change programme
  • Experience in the deployment of an NHS Electronic Patient Record systems and associated data management/reporting
