They’re seeking a highly experienced Senior PHP Developer with strong Laravel expertise and some familiarity with Symfony. While Symfony experience isn’t essential, it is useful for maintaining and understanding legacy components of their platform as they transition most development to Laravel. The role also requires solid frontend skills with React.js and TypeScript. The business is modernising its platform using AWS infrastructure and containerisation via Docker, with plans to integrate AI-driven clinical analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a scalable healthcare management platform used by clinics and hospitals across the UK.
  • Build new features and optimise existing modules around patient records, appointment scheduling, and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, QA, and DevOps.
  • Assist with maintaining and gradually refactoring legacy Symfony components while primarily developing new features in Laravel.
  • Work on frontend applications using React.js, delivering responsive and accessible UI.
  • Contribute to backend services with Node.js and TypeScript to support APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Support cloud deployments and infrastructure automation on AWS using Docker containers.

Technical Requirements

  • Expert-level PHP development experience, primarily with Laravel; some Symfony familiarity is useful but not essential.
  • Strong proficiency in React.js for frontend development, including hooks and state management.
  • Experience with TypeScript for backend and serverless functions.
  • Solid understanding of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, and S3.
  • Containerisation experience with Docker and orchestration basics (e.g., ECS or Kubernetes is a plus).
  • Skilled in designing and consuming RESTful APIs, with focus on security and data privacy.
  • Comfortable with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development practices.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and compliance advantageous.

Additional Details

  • Location: Remote with optional hybrid work from their Manchester office.
  • Salary: £55,000–£65,000, with clear progression and leadership opportunities.
  • Employment Type: Permanent, with long-term career development and mentorship potential.
  • Eligibility: UK-based applicants only.

This role suits a senior developer who thrives in a dynamic environment, balancing technical leadership with hands-on coding across the full stack. The company offers a mission-driven culture focused on practical innovation and real-world impact in healthcare.
