Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer - hybrid (3 days a week on-site)

I'm working with a growing FinTech in Manchester, looking to scale their engineering team with an experienced JavaScript-focused SWE to improve and add new features to their existing platform.

You will be a part of a fairly small agile team, communicating with PMs, Designers, and stakeholders to understand areas for continuous improvement of the innovative product, whilst helping to mentor more junior devs in the team.

Here are the skills our client are looking for:

• Strong experience in JavaScript and TypeScript
• Deep understanding of React.js, ideally Next.js
• Proficiency in Node.js, particularly Express.js for backend services
• Familiarity with AWS services and cloud architecture
• Infrastructure as code expertise using Terraform
• Containerisation and orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
• Knowledge of testing methodologies, including unit and integration testing using Jest or Cypress
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies
• Understanding of security best practices and performance optimisation techniques
• Ability to collaborate effectively in agile teams
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical decision-making
• Experience with Laravel and Angular would be beneficial but not essential. Parts of the platform use different tools for the job at hand.
