We’re supporting a forward-thinking, high-growth organisation in the search for a Head of Development, a strategic leadership role with real influence across technology, product, and business direction.

This is more than a leadership position. It’s an opportunity to define how development is done, shape scalable architecture, and build a high-performing engineering function that delivers exceptional digital products.

The Opportunity As Head of Development, you will take full ownership of the development function, setting the vision, driving delivery, and building a culture of excellence.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership to align technical strategy with commercial goals, while empowering teams to innovate, scale, and deliver at pace.

With a flexible model requiring monthly visits to Leeds city centre, this role offers both autonomy and meaningful collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and lead the development strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team.
• Drive best practices across coding standards, CI/CD, testing, and delivery Oversee the development lifecycle, from concept through to deployment and optimisation
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and senior stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and future-proof Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in a Head of Development / Engineering leadership role
• Strong technical background with hands-on understanding of modern development stacks Experience scaling teams and delivering complex digital platforms or products
• A strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into execution
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Passion for building teams, improving processes, and driving high standards
