Role: Oracle Database Administrator

Salary: £50,000-£60,000

Location: Cumbria

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Work Pattern: On-site until probation passed then hybrid

About the Role:

A long-established organisation is looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to support and enhance several mission-critical databases. This position offers a high level of independence and the opportunity to work with modern Oracle technologies within a supportive, employee-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the setup & maintenance of Oracle database environments.
  • Keep a close eye on performance, resolving issues and refining efficiency.
  • Safeguard data through solid backup, recovery, and security routines.
  • Create and update scripts, documentation, and automation used across the systems.
  • Work with application teams to streamline queries and improve system responsiveness.
  • Manage updates, patches, and version changes to keep platforms current.
  • Configure and maintain ORDS services and related API connections.
  • Make targeted data adjustments when needed.
  • Carry out checks to ensure systems meet internal and external standards.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive practical experience managing Oracle databases in live environments.
  • Confident working with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and migrating systems from traditional servers.
  • Comfortable using both Linux and Windows for administrative tasks.
  • Strong grasp of Oracle’s internal workings, recovery tools, and advanced features.
  • High level of proficiency in SQL/PLSQL, tuning, and problem-solving.
  • Familiar with core Oracle management tools and modern database architectures.
  • Well-rounded understanding of database protection, compliance, and secure operations.
