Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum (DOE)

Employment Type: Full‐Time, Permanent

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2‐3 days per week in the office

Role Overview

They are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic PHP Developer to join our development team. In this role, you’ll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from designing and implementing new features to maintaining and enhancing existing systems.

You will collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, product owners, and fellow developers, ensuring that every solution we deliver is robust, scalable, and user-friendly. This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to modern technologies and frameworks, providing plenty of opportunities to expand your technical skills and make a tangible impact on our products.

Key Responsibilities

As a PHP Developer with us, you will:

  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable server-side code using PHP.
  • Build and maintain back-end features and modules that power our web applications.
  • Work closely with front-end developers and UX designers to create seamless, high-quality user experiences.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise application performance to ensure speed and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews, contributing your expertise and helping uphold coding standards.
  • Support deployment tasks and collaborate in cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP experience is a bonus).
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and bring fresh ideas to the team.

Required Skills & Experience

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Strong practical experience in PHP development.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more PHP frameworks, such as Laravel or Symfony.
  • Solid understanding of OOP, MVC architecture, and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with SQL databases (e.g., MySQL, MariaDB).
  • Competence in front-end basics: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience using Git for version control.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for learning new technologies and following best practices.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Exposure to security best practices and performance optimisation strategies.
