Role: Senior Azure Platform & Security Engineer

Salary: £80,000–£95,000 (DOE)

A Senior Azure Platform & Security Engineer is required to provide technical ownership of the organisation’s Azure environment, security framework, and governance controls that support emerging data and AI initiatives.

The position combines platform engineering, security leadership, and governance responsibilities, ensuring cloud services are robust, secure, and aligned with business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Define and govern Azure platform design principles across infrastructure and platform services.
Develop secure networking, connectivity, and segmentation strategies.
Lead cloud security design, monitoring, and risk mitigation initiatives.
Implement governance controls for data protection, compliance, and AI adoption.
Establish secure access standards and identity management practices.
Drive consistency across end-user access technologies and cloud services.
Enhance business continuity capabilities through backup and recovery planning.
Act as a key technical link between Azure services, operational teams, and Microsoft 365 support functions.

Experience Required

Essential

Strong experience designing and managing Azure environments.
Strong background in cloud security and architectural decision-making.
Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams.
Practical approach to balancing risk, usability, and governance.

Desirable

Microsoft Purview, including DLP, classification, and audit capabilities
Microsoft Defender and SIEM ecosystems
Cloudflare Zero Trust technologies, including Access, Tunnels, and WARP
Exposure to governance and security requirements within SQL or Microsoft Fabric environments
