Position: Senior Platform Engineer

Salary: £60,000 – £75,000

Work Pattern: Hybrid

Location: St Helens

The Role

As Lead Platform Engineer, you will take full ownership of the design, delivery, and operation of Azure-based cloud platforms. You will ensure the infrastructure is secure and cost-efficient, while enabling development teams to work effectively.

This is a fast-paced and evolving environment that calls for a proactive and hands-on approach. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and liaise with external stakeholders, making the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible way essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Azure cloud platform across multiple environments.
  • Oversee cloud operations, including monitoring, performance optimisation, and capacity planning.
  • Maintain cloud security, governance, and cost management controls.
  • Manage identity and access using Microsoft Entra, Intune, and role-based access control.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code.
  • Collaborate with other teams.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing Azure environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure services.
  • Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell or Terraform.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles and frameworks.
  • Experience managing and optimising cloud costs.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
