QA Automation Lead – Leeds – Hybrid
We're hiring an experienced QA Automation Lead to join a growing Leeds-based technology consultancy. This is a senior role where you'll help shape quality strategies across multiple client engagements, working on high-performing digital platforms used by thousands of businesses.
You'll be part of a forward-thinking engineering function, leading QA automation initiatives, mentoring engineers, and embedding best-in-class testing practices across delivery teams.
The role
As a QA Automation Lead, you will be responsible for driving quality across the full software delivery lifecycle. You'll work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-quality solutions are delivered to our clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading functional, regression, performance, and security testing activities
- Defining and driving QA automation strategy across client projects
- Monitoring and reporting on quality metrics including test coverage and defect trends
- Mentoring QA Automation Engineers and promoting a quality-first culture
- Designing and maintaining automated test frameworks
- Managing test environments aligned with production
- Reviewing automated and manual test cases to ensure full coverage
- Participating in code reviews, sprint planning, and release management
- Supporting releases and platform enhancements, including occasional out-of-hours support
- Keeping up to date with emerging QA and automation best practices
What we are looking for:
- 2+ years' experience in a QA Lead or senior QA Automation role
- Experience implementing and building an Automation framework
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools such
- Experience with cross-device testing (desktop and mobile)
- Solid understanding of test planning, estimation, and reporting
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Blue-Green deployments
- Strong background testing microservices-based architectures
- Comfortable working with stakeholders in a fast-paced consultancy environment
