A well-established and expanding organisation is seeking a SQL Developer to join its data function.

This position offers exposure across database administration, data engineering, and business intelligence, providing a varied and hands-on workload. It’s a great opportunity for a mid-level professional or a junior developer with strong SQL capabilities looking to take the next step.

The role involves working with live systems, developing data pipelines, and supporting reporting needs, all while continuing to build technical expertise.

SQL will be a core focus, with scope to take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration (DBA)

  • Assist in the maintenance, optimisation, and support of relational databases
  • Develop and refine SQL queries to improve performance and reliability
  • Monitor database performance and help troubleshoot issues
  • Support indexing and tuning activities
  • Contribute to backup, recovery, and data integrity processes
  • Work across both production and test environments

Data Engineering (DE)

  • Build and maintain SQL-driven ETL/ELT processes
  • Support data pipeline development and scheduled workflows
  • Transform raw data into structured, analysis-ready formats
  • Assist with data modelling, including fact and dimension tables
  • Consolidate data from multiple sources into centralised datasets
  • Help ensure data quality and consistency

Business Intelligence (BI)

  • Create SQL views, stored procedures, and reporting datasets
  • Support dashboard development and reporting requirements
  • Translate business requirements into efficient SQL solutions
  • Ensure outputs are accurate, scalable, and reusable
  • Contribute to consistent KPI definitions and data standards

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong SQL knowledge (joins, subqueries, aggregations, window functions)
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of data structures and query performance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimise queries
  • Experience working with real-world datasets (academic, internship, or commercial)
