About the Job you are considering:
A SAS Engineer in financial services designs and maintains analytical data pipelines, builds automated financial models, and ensures regulatory compliance. They bridge the gap between data platforms and business stakeholders, focusing on risk, fraud detection, and reporting within the banking and finance sector.
Hybrid working:
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your Role:
- Design, develop, and maintain SAS programs (Base SAS, SAS Macros, SQL, Data Step).
- Build robust data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading.
- Optimize SAS jobs for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Work with large datasets (including SPDE, SAS datasets, external sources).
- Perform thorough unit testing, system testing, and UAT support for SAS code.
- Develop and maintain validation frameworks to ensure data accuracy.
- Conduct impact assessment on code changes and data refresh cycles.
- Document test cases, results, and coding standards.
- Analyse complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, anomalies, and insights.
- Prepare analytical outputs, dashboards, or reports in SAS or other BI tools.
- Partner with business teams to understand data needs and translate them into technical designs.
- Exposure to pricing frameworks, financial modelling, or actuarial concepts.
- Understanding of regression models, forecasting techniques, or predictive models. Ability
- Ability to partner with modelling teams to support data prep and model deployment.
- Experience in pricing, modelling, actuarial data, or financial analytics.
- Exposure to Python, R, or SQL-based analytical workload
Your Skills:
- 5–10+ years of hands-on SAS programming experience.
- Advanced skills in:
- Base SAS
- SAS Macros
- SAS SQL
- Data Step programming
- SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Studio
- Experience with large datasets, data warehousing concepts, and ETL workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Experience with code testing, validation, and quality control.
- Solid understanding of data structures, metadata, and data governance.
