Senior Computer Vision Engineer
NATO-Backed Deep Tech Startup | Senior Computer Vision Engineer (Geometry) | Oxford | £120-180K + Equity
About the company:
We’re partnered with a high-growth, dual-use deep tech company based in Oxford that is redefining 3D perception for robotics and autonomous systems. Founded in 2024 and selected for the prestigious NATO DIANA technology incubator, they recently closed a significant seed round led by top-tier venture capital. Their core technology is a world-first, high-resolution passive 3D sensor that utilizes multi-stereoscopy (4-camera arrays) to outperform LiDAR in both range (up to 1km) and resolution. With a mission to become the default sensor for autonomous vehicles (UAV, UGV, USV) in both defense and civilian sectors, they are scaling rapidly toward a Series A.
About the role:
They are looking for a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to own the geometric core of their sensing pipeline. This is a critical technical role focused on ensuring the precision and stability of a multi-camera system in challenging, real-world environments. You will be responsible for the mathematical and algorithmic foundations that allow 4-camera arrays to reconstruct 3D space with 10x the density of traditional LiDAR. This role is ideal for a specialist who thrives on solving complex problems in calibration, non-linear optics, and error mitigation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize the geometric core of the pipeline, including calibration, rectification, and triangulation.
- Maximize depth accuracy, range performance, and rig stability across various hardware configurations.
- Build and validate models to mitigate errors caused by vibration, thermal movement, and non-linear optical effects.
- Lead the technical geometric work on primary flight and ground modules.
- Create measurable validation workflows for sensor precision and 3D reconstruction quality.
Requirements:
- A PhD in Computer Vision, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field.
- Exceptional academic background (First Class degree from Oxbridge or Imperial preferred).
- Deep expertise in geometric computer vision, 3D reconstruction, and camera calibration.
- Experience with multi-view geometry and high-performance algorithmic development.
- Must be a citizen of a NATO member country (due to the nature of defense projects).
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset suited to a fast-paced deep tech environment.
Benefits:
- £120-180K base salary DOE
- Significant equity incentives.
- Flexible working (Oxford-based with WFH options).
