PLC Software Engineer/PLC Safety Software Engineer/Safety Software Engineer - Siemens - 9 month contract - Hybrid 2 days a week in Hatfield, Hertfordshire - £Negotiable per day - Outside IR35
We're looking for PLC Software Engineers/PLC Safety Software Engineers (Siemens) to help design, develop, and optimise safety-critical control systems used across advanced automation environments.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain safety-related PLC systems (Siemens; Beckhoff a bonus).
- Implement safety functions (E-Stops, interlocks, light curtains, etc.) to global standards.
- Support FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and system optimisation.
- Produce technical documentation and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
Experience Sought
- Proven experience in PLC programming with strong safety engineering expertise.
- Siemens Safety training.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 62061, IEC 61508).
- Skilled in TIA Portal and industrial comms (Profibus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus).
- STEM degree and ability to work independently across multiple projects.
- TÜV or CE/SIL experience is a plus.
