Software Engineer – Production Automation & CI/CD - 72096

Software Engineer – Production Automation & CI/CD Location: London Contract: September 2026 – March 2027 Pay rate: £55 per hour PAYE The opportunity We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to build and maintain the automation that keeps a large-scale user-generated content application healthy in production. The application operates as one product across multiple platforms, running natively on VR headsets and through cloud streaming on mobile and PC. Working alongside the runtime and Keep the Lights On team, you will reduce manual operational and on-call work through automation. You will also maintain cloud-rendering and deployment pipelines and ensure CI/CD remains functional as upstream infrastructure and dependencies change.Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain automation supporting release pipelines, build health, crash triage and incident detection.
  • Maintain and improve an AI-assisted code-repair system that autonomously creates and lands code fixes.
  • Develop tooling that automatically detects broken builds and identifies the root-cause change.
  • Build solutions that recommend or implement fixes for build and production failures.
  • Monitor production quality, reliability, capacity and latency.
  • Investigate and respond to production regressions, incidents and outages.
  • Reduce recurring operational and on-call work by approximately 80–90% through automation.
  • Maintain cloud-rendering, build and deployment pipelines.
  • Complete infrastructure and dependency migrations without disrupting downstream CI/CD.
  • Collaborate with runtime, production engineering and operational teams.
Essential experience
  • Eight or more years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent expertise.
  • Proven experience building and operating CI/CD, build, release and cloud-deployment pipelines at scale.
  • Experience operating cloud services and server-side fleets in production.
  • Strong knowledge of production reliability, capacity and latency.
  • Experience building or operating AI-assisted developer tools or coding agents that generate or repair code.
  • Experience developing tooling that detects broken builds and traces failures to their root-cause change.
  • Production monitoring, crash-triage and incident-response experience.
  • Experience supporting a large-scale application across multiple platforms.
  • A demonstrable record of reducing operational and on-call workloads through automation.
  • Experience completing infrastructure or dependency migrations without breaking downstream pipelines.
Desirable experience
  • Cloud gaming, cloud application streaming or remote rendering.
  • VR or cross-platform application environments.
  • Asset-delivery or CDN pipelines operating at scale.
  • Capacity, latency or session-orchestration monitoring for streamed workloads.
  • Live-service or other large-scale production applications.
  • Large monorepo build systems and dependency management.
  • Self-healing systems or automated remediation.
About you You will be a senior, hands-on engineer with a strong background in production engineering, site reliability, developer productivity, release engineering or infrastructure automation. You should be comfortable investigating complex failures across build, cloud and deployment systems and developing reliable automation that prevents recurring incidents and reduces manual operational effort.
