IT Engineer (3-6 Month Contract, Likely to Go Permanent)

Location: Watford with regional travel

Contract: 3–6 months initially (very strong chance of permanent hire)

We're supporting a growing hospitality group that is looking for an experienced Regional IT Engineer to provide hands-on technical support across multiple hotel sites in the South of England, as well as their head office. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of on-site work, problem solving, project involvement and working closely with operational teams. The contract is initially 3–6 months, with a high likelihood of converting to a full-time permanent position.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting and maintaining IT hardware and software across hotel properties

• Handling second-line support for end users, resolving issues quickly and professionally

• Providing support for hotel systems including PMS, WiFi, telecoms, AV, and TV systems

• Working directly with senior stakeholders and board-level staff when needed

• Managing relationships with third-party suppliers and ensuring smooth service delivery

• Assisting with procurement of IT equipment and services

• Providing hands-on support in communications cabinet patching, office moves and general infrastructure tasks

• Training on-site teams to strengthen local IT capability

• Contributing to IT projects such as upgrades, new system rollouts and property expansions

• Documenting systems, configurations and processes clearly

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years' experience in IT support, helpdesk or hands-on technical engineering

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

• Experience working across Microsoft technologies:

– Active Directory

– Azure

– Exchange

– Desktop and user management

• Understanding of LAN/WAN networking and protocols

• Experience supporting hospitality systems such as Opera PMS, Micros, HotSOS, Mitel, digital signage or key access systems (desirable)

• Practical experience with Ethernet/fibre patching and telecoms wiring

• Confident communicator with a customer-focused approach

• Someone comfortable working independently across multiple sites and managing their own workload
