Role: Applications Solution Architect (Contract – Outside IR35)
Location: Hybrid with 1 day a week in Brighton
Rate: Up to £600/day (Outside IR35)

We're hiring an experienced Applications Solution Architect to support a long-term transformation programme with a global consultancy partner. This role will see you lead solution design across a multi-technology environment, engaging with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and technical leads.
You’ll be a key link between Enterprise Architecture and hands-on delivery, responsible for shaping roadmaps, reducing technical debt, and driving best practices across a wide-ranging digital estate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own architecture for critical application components, shaping their evolution to align with target state architecture
- Translate EA roadmaps into actionable, project-level designs
- Produce solution options, review technical designs, and engage directly with scrum teams
- Provide hands-on technical leadership where needed across architecture, development, and DevOps
- Mentor Technical Leads and influence multiple cross-functional delivery teams
- Manage architectural risks, compliance, and governance processes
- Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting (CapEx), and continuous improvement initiatives
- Actively support and promote engineering excellence and agile delivery
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect in large-scale enterprise environments
- Broad technical background across applications, integration, databases, and cloud (Azure/GCP preferred)
- Expertise in solution architecture design and documentation (e.g. process flows, data architecture)
- Hands-on understanding of .NET, Java, PL/SQL, Oracle databases, CI/CD tooling (e.g. ADO, Jira), and DevOps automation
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- Experience working in matrixed teams and hybrid delivery models (Agile & Waterfall)
- Background in regulated industries (insurance/financial services preferred)
- Comfortable reviewing and querying enterprise systems to diagnose issues or recommend improvements
