Role: Data Engineer - Talend

Contract: upto 12 months
Rate: Up to £625 per day - Inside IR35
Location: Remote, with 1-2 days per month travel to London, Telford or Manchester
Start Date: ASAP

• Active SC clearance preferred

• BPSS required/must be able to pass BPSS

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to support a large-scale UK Government data and IT transformation programme.

The role will focus on developing and maintaining ETL pipelines using Talend, working with Oracle databases and supporting CI/CD, testing and production release activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain ETL solutions using Talend
• Build and maintain Oracle SQL and DDL artefacts
• Develop and maintain data pipelines within an established Talend framework
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline enhancements
• Investigate and resolve defects across development and testing
• Carry out component testing and create test data
• Support QA, performance testing and production releases
• Conduct peer reviews of development and test artefacts
• Work within structured SDLC and testing frameworks
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and cross-team coordination
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong, hands-on Talend experience - essential
• Strong Oracle database experience, ideally Oracle RDS
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills
• Solid ETL/data integration experience
• Experience with structured SDLC and testing frameworks
• Experience with CI/CD, preferably GitLab
• Enterprise or UK Government/public-sector experience desirable
• Active SC or SC clearable
